Journals . Product ReviewsLeather Travel Journal
When I took my first my first trip to New Orleans, I decided to journal the trip. I had just recently gotten into my family tree and ancestry research. How cool would it be to leave my journals to my son so he can read them when he’s old enough to appreciate the memories?
So I bought myself a leather bound journal for travelling. Every road trip is an adventure and what better way to capture those memories?
The journal I bought is a leather bound journal with lined pages. I love that the leather has an adventure/travel theme engraved on it and a magnetic closure. The closure helps protect the pages from getting ripped up and folded while tucked in my luggage during travel.
I use my travel journal to both document my feelings and memories of each trip, but also to hold receipts, programs, tickets, and itineraries. I just paperclip them to the pages where I write about what we did.
My journal comes with me on every road trip I take now. I try to find time each day of the trip to sit down and write out my entry for the day. This is the best way to capture the memories and the feelings that went along with them.
Leather Travel Journal – Fanery Sue
This compact journal measures 5.3 inches wide by 8.6 inches tall. The soft faux leather hardcover protects the pages nicely from wear and tear as the journal travels with me each trip. With 200 pages, I’ve been able to capture memories from half a dozen road trips already!
Features
- Nautical Theme: This personal adventure journal is engraved with a compass, rudder, and a spear with the saying “And so the adventure begins.” This fits the travel theme perfectly! It even has a free pen with the same saying on it.
- Refillable Journal: This A5 size journal can easily be refilled once you’ve filled up the existing pages. The journal is environmentally friendly and even has a pen loop attached to keep your matching pen secure.
- Faux Leather Hardcover: Your journal entries stay protected in this suede hardcover. The faux leather feels soft in your hands and the magnetic snap buckle keeps your writings safe.
- Thick Pages / 100 Sheets: The paper quality is excellent for ink pens and at 100gsm, the ink does not bleed through the paper easily. The light yellow paper protects your eyesight and the dotted grid on each site guides your writing for efficient spacing.
- Strong Binding: The binding is sewn with a ribbon bookmark. Your pages stay in place and don’t fall out easily at all. This journal is built for security and durability. Your diary will stay safe for years to come.

- Weak Magnet

- Pen Refills
I really do like almost everything about this journal. There are only three areas I would suggest improvement on, but they are definitely not deal breakers. The magnet is strong enough to hold the journal closed in most instances. However, if you add things to the journal like pictures or tickets, the magnet becomes weaker and it’s harder to keep the journal closed.
The pen holder is very thin. When you’re taking the pen out of its holder, you feel like it will tear easily. So you’re probably overly careful when removing the pen.
While the journal is refillable, the pen is not. It would be super dope if the pen were a refillable one since it has a matching saying on it.
Leather Travel Journal Summary
Full disclosure, I have quite the variety of journals that I’ve acquired over the years. This is just the first one I used as my travel journal. So I figured I would share.
If you like to jot down your memories or your favorite things while on road trips, this is a great journal to do just that.
Have you tried it? Do you have a different solution that you would recommend? I’d love to hear about it!
Please drop a few lines in the comments box below and let me know what you use and why you like it.
In the meantime, safe travels!
