Long Weekend Trips

What I Consider a Long Weekend Trip

Pensacola Beach

Pensacola Beach Trip

I consider long weekend trips to be a trip that we take in 4 days or less.  It’s longer than 24 hours and requires us to stay in a hotel at least 1 night.  But no more than 3 nights and four days.

This way, I can take Friday and Monday off of work and get a four day vacation for the cost of 2 days worth of work.  These are great for holiday weekends as well.

I’m all about using as few vacation days as possible so that I have more vacation time saved for another trip.

Long weekend trips are typically close to home but not so close that I could do it any weekend.

I live on the west coast of Central Florida, so my long weekend trips would be on the northern or southern borders of Florida or maybe even on the east coast of the state since it’s several hours away from home.

They could be just outside of Florida, but I typically plan for longer trips when I leave the state.

When I’m planning my long weekend trips with Roadtrippers, I start with the main destination.  I set up a round trip from my home city to my destination.  Then I simply look for interesting stops along the way to fill up the weekend with stops that spark our interests.

My Trips

New Orleans Trip

New Orleans Trip – July 2015

I haven’t taken a lot of long weekend trips, so far.  I’ve just recently started making enough income that I can live comfortably with some money to splurge.

So I’ve been planning trips but life has been happening to an extent that travel just hasn’t been an option for a few years.

That said, life hasn’t stopped me from planning trips.

I don’t have a whole lot of long weekend trips planned right now.  But I have a few and will start planning them again soon.

Hopefully soon we’ll get past the pandemic shutdown and be able to safely travel again.  Unfortunately, many places are still closed.

Long Weekend Trips I’ve Taken

The trips below are day trips that I’ve taken with my son… and maybe my bestie:

Long Weekend Trips I’ve Planned

St. Augustine Trip

St. Augustine Trip

Since I’ve planned these trips but haven’t taken them yet, I haven’t written up my reviews of the pit stops.

Sorry about that, if only I had more time and money to travel!

When I take the trips, I’ll get the stops reviewed and link them below.

  • Gulf Shores Getaway
  • Pensacola Beach, FL
  • St. Augustine, FL

If you’re looking to plan a road trip, be sure to check out the Roadtrippers Trip Planner to see what all may interest you and get it added to your trip.  It’s amazing how many hidden treasures are out there just waiting to be explored.

Driving several hours to see one place just seems like a waste to me, why not see what else is along your route and make the most of the trip?

Just, please… do me a favor and travel safe.
